Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Vol. 1 Books

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Greean Lantern story for the ages!
If you were to read only 1 GL novel, read this one. The story, characters, & art, all fall into place seemlessly. Geoff Johns crafts a war that burns into GL history. Sinestro is a man to fear & this novels puts his name among DC's top villain's list.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - green lantern
it's a great story a must for any green lantern fan the art is fantastic

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This is why Marvel Comics are lame....
I haven't been a big fan of Green Lantern. I thought he was kinda lame, making mouse traps and big spoons to thwart criminals. And the fact that he can win a fight without throwing a punch is totally dumb to me. But, in recent events that are taking place in the DCU, Blackest Night is coming up, and it sounds AWESOME!!! So i decided to start picking up Green Lantern stuff. I've decidede to start with Sinestro Corps War Vol. 1

This comic is amazing. Geoff Johns has been writing Green Lantern for a long time, and i hope he doesn't leave the series. He does an amazing job. Sinestro Corps War is the story of Hal Jordan's arch nemesis building his own army of lanterns and trying to reshape the world the way he wants. Its a straight forward story of good vs. evil. I also like how Geoff has brought back Superboy Prime, the cyborg Superman, and the anti-monitor, its good to see characters from old comics come back. Especially these villains! Anti-monitor nearly destroyed the universe, cyborg superman destroyed coast city, and superboy prime nearly replaced earth with his earth. So the threat leve is very high, and it makes for exciting plot developments.

The art is good. Dave Gibbons does a good job. His art reminds me of Jim Lee, whom is the greatest artist ever, followed closely by Frank Quietly and Alex Ross. I like the big battle scenes with twenty charactes on it, very epic. And in an event like this, everything needs to be epic.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Classic Good vs. Evil at its Best!
This is volume 1 of The Sinestro Corps. War and collects Green Lantern # 21-23 and Green Lantern Corps #14-15. After years of defeat, long-time villain Sinestro has finally discovered how to harness the power of fear, and uses it create a Lantern corps. in his own image. Gathering some of the vilest creatures in the galaxy and big-time villains in the DC Universe, Sinestro sets out to crush the Green Lanterns and the guardians once and for all.

If you're looking for a story of good vs. evil to remind yourself why you ever got into comics, this is a sprawling, epic blockbuster that will satisfy all your requirements. The amount of pencil work on each page is breathtaking as armies clash in bright bursts of green and yellow energy, all gorgeously coloured and inked. The story, led by Geoff Johns and Dave Gibbons, utilizes all your favorite Green Lantern characters and more, digging deep into the mythology with references to DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore and Infinite Crisis. Where else can you see a sentient planet face off against a sentient city?

The volume ends on a great cliffhanger that concludes in Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Vol. 2. Not all comics are worth the hardcover purchase, but this is one that will leave you wanting more.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Worth reading
I was a fan of Green Lantern back in the early '80s when I was a kid. This book is good and made me remember why I liked him. I don't know if this has any crossover appeal, but for old GL fans like me it was a good read.
