Kolchak Actor Darren McGavin Dies at 83

Emmy-winning actor Darren McGavin, who played monster chaser Carl Kolchak in the 1970s television series "Kolchak: The Night Stalker," died on Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital.
His show would become a cult classic and would influence later popular shows like the X-files. Darren McGavin even appeared on the X-files as a guest.
The new Nightstalker with a new Kolchak failed to get enough ratings to continue, but McGavin's version will live on in sci-fi history.
He will also never be forgotten for his role as the grouchy cussing father on the 1983 "Christmas Story". The Christmas holiday tradition about the boy who wanted a bb gun, but was always told," You'll shoot your eye out kid".
