Fall is almost here! And with that comes the need for warm and stylish accessories. As someone who has never been a fan of scarves (they’re too bulky, itchy, and just plain uncomfortable), I’ve finally come to love them in recent years. They add such a nice touch to any outfit; whether you dress them up or dress them down they always look great. So, without further ado, here are some of my favorite scarf trends this fall, something in which I took the help of MandM Direct in compiling my list:
1. Cashmere
I think it’s pretty obvious why cashmere scarves are at the top of this list: they’re just so soft! This fall, go for knits over silk to add warmth without feeling like you’re wearing a body shaper.
2. Stripes
Stripes are everywhere right now and for good reason, they look amazing! You can get them in any color, pattern or width to suit your style but I would suggest going for something neutral such as solid black or grey. A bigger scarf is also an option -depending on how cold it is where you live- but a square scarf is definitely more modern and stylish if that fits your image better.
3. The ‘Long Hair Look
This one’s an oldie but a goodie. Bows and flowers have been around for as long as I can remember and they’re still going strong! For this trend, go for bold colors or prints in small sizes to stay away from looking like a little kid playing dress-up.
4. The Poncho
This is my favorite of the bunch because it’s so versatile; you get extra warmth without being restricted on movement by a non-flattering scarf that’s too bulky. You can choose pretty much any color or pattern as well, which makes this piece ideal for adding some flair to your look when paired with neutrals -or just make it stand out altogether if you’re feeling daring-.
5. The Hijab Scarf (Mantillas)
This one is not for everyone but it’s definitely a trend that you should try at least once. Because of the similarities between hijab fashion and mantilla scarves, this piece makes it easy to add some variety to your look without having to worry about being too out there with your scarf choices or coming across as an ’80s pop star/flower child (I never was cool enough to pull these off).
As for some other scarfs that you may try, I found great examples for you to look at -all of which are reasonably affordable. Be sure to Google these examples, and I am sure that you will find a scarf that suits your taste.
- Plaid Cashmere Scarf
- Striped Tartan Wool Scarf
- Dark Green Hijab Scarf
- Silver Chevron Pattern
- Black Silk & Faux Fur Bow Tie (Mantilla style)
- Double-Sided Satin Rose Gold Lace
- Solid Color 100% Cashmere Turtleneck
- Blue & Gold Geometric Print
- Multicolor Large Chevron Print
- Luxury Quality Costume Jewelry Jumbo
As for me, I usually use a square scarf because they’re less bulky than their long counterparts and I can easily drape them over my shoulders if it gets chilly. One great thing about picking out fall accessories like scarves is that they’re so cheap! You don’t have to break the bank when you’re trying to stay stylish, just check out some clothing store sales for great bargains.
